Bruges Compass

A useful starting point

01

Data controller

Curiositas Mundus SRL, Brussels, Belgium, is the data controller. Privacy enquiries and requests concerning your rights may be sent to info@brugescompass.com.

02

Technical data

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Its infrastructure may process essential technical data such as IP address, browser details, requested URL, date and time for security, delivery and reliability. If you accept optional tools, Bruges Compass also stores within Cloudflare a temporary random session identifier, page path, language, coarse device type and country, active reading time, scroll depth and external-link clicks. We do not store names, email addresses, full IP addresses or raw browser identifiers for this audience measurement.

03

Affiliate measurement

After consent, GetYourGuide's Integration Analyzer may report integration views, clicks, status and performance. Travelpayouts Drive may analyze page content and visitor interactions and process data needed to measure affiliate tools and attribute bookings. No automatic monetization function is approved for ongoing use; the five vendor defaults will be disabled after the required initial connection check and any later activation will require a separate editorial and privacy review.

04

Choice and storage

When you choose a language, the functional bc_locale cookie remembers it for up to one year. At the site entrance, we use your browser’s language preference when no saved choice exists. Your optional-tools choice is stored locally for up to 180 days, and a temporary analytics session identifier is created in session storage only after consent. Travelpayouts may use cookies, local storage or similar identifiers according to its own policies and enabled settings. You can withdraw consent at any time from Optional tools settings in the footer; the page then reloads without those scripts.

05

External links

Links to booking platforms, transport operators and other websites take you to third parties with their own privacy and cookie policies.

06

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Belgian data-protection law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or object to processing where applicable. You may also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

Interactive maps · added 14 August 2026

When a Bruges Compass interactive map is displayed, your browser requests the visible map tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. As with a normal web request, OSMF may receive network information such as your IP address, browser/device details, referring page and request time under its own privacy policy. Bruges Compass does not use those tile requests for its audience analytics. OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy ↗
